Steve Simpson has practiced law for thirty years, presenting Plaintiffs and Defendants in civil and criminal matters as well as insurance carriers, corporations, and government entities. Steve grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and has resided here, since graduation from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1988. Steve is married to Elizabeth Bost Simpson and has three daughters.

Steve has practiced in the County, Chancery, Circuit, and the Supreme Court of Mississippi as well as the Federal District Courts of Mississippi of Mississippi and Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Steve served as an Assistant District Attorney for almost eight years prosecuting all varieties of felony criminal cases, including drugs, property crimes, sexual assaults, homicides, and capital murder prosecutions. Steve also served approximately eight years as an elected Circuit Court Judge in the Second Circuit Court District of Mississippi presiding over hundreds of civil and felony cases.

Steve resigned his judgeship in 2008 to accept the Mississippi Governor’s Appointment as Commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Public Safety which oversees the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Mississippi Crime Lab, Mississippi Medical Examiner, Mississippi Homeland Security, and several other agencies.

Since 2012, Steve has been in private practice and conducting mediations on a regular basis. Steve has obtained various mediation certifications and is registered with the Mississippi State Bar Registry of Mediators. Steve has conducted numerous mediations, including, but not limited to, contracts, construction, personal injury, premises liability, medical malpractice, professional liability, wrongful death, insurance law, real estate, and Chancery Court family law.

Steve has been, or is now, a member of the Mississippi State Bar, the ABA, the Mississippi Prosecutors Association (past president, Mississippi Conference of Circuit Court Judges (past chairman), Harrison County Bar Association, Russell-Blass Chapter of American Inns of Court (past chairman), Association of Attorney-Mediators, Academy of Court Appointed Masters, and The Best Lawyers in America 2018. Steve is currently a senior status judge and presides over civil and felony criminal matters.
